ABOUT THE ARTIST

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Through the work I create, I investigate aspects of portraiture that I wish to see more of in the art scene. I favor creating images that feature a range of emotion and a diverse cast of characters throughout a myriad of styles. I alternate between using pen and colored pencils to create a bold and fluid image of fierce emotion, and graphite and weak watercolors for a desperate, desolate portrait. When working, I’m concerned with every little detail on the face, following every strand of hair and wrinkle in the skin with a steady hand. I can see these consistencies in my work developing to include more mediums as I practice with them, including pastels and digital art, while still keeping the attention to detail I crave. Through my technique and presentation, I intend to provoke the audience to never expect a consistent style from an artist. I also intend to encourage artists to never feel guilty for indulging in consistently creating art based around their interests.
